Language Lessons

And this time, I don’t mean Spanish!
We have had to learn a new vocabulary for the adoption process. A ‘Homestudy’ is a report based on interviews done by the social worker with us as a couple and individually in her office, and a final visit to our home. Thank goodness we don’t have to have the apartment baby-proofed before the home visit, as ours will take place next week and we won’t see the baby for several months! Basically, our social worker is here to help us prepare. So far she had given us a 2 page reading list, and we will have to complete an online course called “Eyes Wide Open” as part of the Homestudy. Once the Homestudy is written, she will send a copy to the CIS (formerly INS) which is part of the Department of Homeland Security. What fun!
