Visit Trip

On December 13, 2006 at 1:30pm, we met Sparky. We flew to Guatemala City and stayed with her in the Marriott until December 15, 2006 at 9:00am. What made the deepest impression for me was how obviously loved and well cared for she is by her foster mother, Ana. Sparky only cried to let us know she needed feeding, changing, or to be walked. Once we started the process of bottle making, diaper changing, or strolling, she immediately stopped crying, having been assured her needs were being met. She slept with us, as she sleeps with Ana, keeping a grip on my pajama top. When awake, she quicly rewarded Tom with smiles for his singing. She prefers to indulge in the classic baby sounds of 'goo' and 'gaa.' The only thing that made it bearable to give her back to Ana was seeing Ana tear up and hug her tightly when I returned Sparky to her arms.

While in the Marriott, we met several other families from our agency. While there was a slow-down in PGN this Summer, with cases taking 12 weeks or more to exit the PGN part of the process, this Fall seems to have a speed up occuring with cases exiting PGN in 2-6 weeks.

What does this mean for us? . . . best case scenario is probably a February homecoming! Cross your fingers. Knowing how loved she is by Ana, I feel good about the wait, even if it is until June.
