Homeland Security

We had the last of our Homestudy visits at the end of June, and now are just waiting for the Homestudy report to be completed, typed up, and notarized. Once that is done, we will be ready to submit our I600A. The I600A is submitted to CIS, formerly known as INS, a department reporting to the Office of Homeland Security. This will result in our third and final fingerprinting, and once we are cleared by the CIS our I600A will be turned into a 171H. The 171H is the document we need to send to Guatemala with our dossier in order to get matched with our little girl. What’s the timeframe on converting the I600A into a 171H? Outside time: 2 months. Time to referral? Again, outside time: 2 months. A definite case of hurry-up and wait!
