Above is a picture of our living room, probably the cleanest it has ever been. As part of our dossier, we had to submit photos of our apartment (including front and back, outside), ourselves, our family, and us with other people’s children. But not with pets; apparently some cultures are not copacetic with pets. So there it is, our clean and completely un-baby-proofed apartment. Right now, we are painting some other accent walls like the super-green one in the dining room. We are painting a wall in the living room yellow, a wall in the bedroom blue. We got enough paint to do accent walls in these three colors in Tom’s study, the laundry room, and both bathrooms. Are you surprised we are painting? Isn’t there more paperwork we should be doing? Believe it or not, we are almost done! Sure, there are a couple of things out there in the world getting authenticated. But for the most part, especially thanks to all the friends who wrote wonderful letters supporting our adoption and witnessing our fitness to adopt, thanks to the multiple doctors appointments, fingerprinting sessions, and countless trips to the post office, we are thisclose to paper-ready! So now what? Well, we wait, and paint, and start to think about the three of us fitting in this apartment. And we enjoy how very clean it is, while it lasts!
