Owie: The Re-enactment
The other night we three were playing in the living room. Alice was feeling very lively, and ended up falling over and banging her head on the wood floor. We picked her up and held her close, patting her back and snuggling. Shortly thereafter she was ready to get down and keep going. And what did she do? She crawled over to her doll, knelt beside her, picked her up by the leg, and proceeded to slam her head against the floor a couple of times. Then she cradled the doll to her chest, the doll's head buried in her neck, and patted her back. After a short time, she put the doll down and went about her playing. Tom and I stared at each other: 'Did you see what I just saw?!?!?!" So amazing.

Don't it just figure that the child of writerly people will find early use for re-imagining and self-reflection through transference?
