Tom just called to tell me the following story:
Today is Alice's day to bring the food for daycare, so Tom and Alice drove in this morning. Mama has been going to work early to get caught up on projects, so has only been around for a short time in the morning. When Dada put Alice in her car seat, he handed her the toy cell phone to play with during the ride. Alice has been having very animated conversations on her cell phone lately. This morning, she was talking, and Dada asked her who she was speaking with, and Alice answered, "Mama." dada then asked what Mama had to say, and Alice answered, "Dada." (This morning right before Mama left for work she requested a group hug in which she declared her love for Alice and Dada). Dada then asked Alice if she could call Amy at daycare and let her know they would be right there. Alice then had the following conversation on her cell phone:
Right there.
Ok.
Ok.
Bye.
Tom called me at work to tell me this story, which of course made me all teary . . . and absolutely made my day! It puts discovery platforms and electronic document delivery and barcoding projects in perspective. What an awesome kid we have, what an awesome family! Yay us!

That is so cute! Tom has a little assistant!
So you hold a piece of plastic up to your face, like so, and then you can have conversations with people who aren't really there! So much magic in the world.
And it's not only phones that work this way. In our house, the remote control, the iPod, or a brother's shoe has the same power.
