Art and Toddlers

Tom reminded me of a story that should have gone with the previous post. When trying to get all the kids on the couch, looking in the same direction, and smiling, Adam got up to some antics involving pretending to sneeze a stuffed animal out of his nose and into the crowd on the couch. If you look closely at the photos, you will see who was traumatized by this, who decided every man for himself and hid behind his brother, who thought it was funny, and who realized something had gone horribly wrong (and Alice, who was oblivious).

The next day we went to the park with the Johnson Herrells and then onto the Museum.

They had a Chihuly exhibit.

I realize I am indiscriminately posting pictures, but how to choose?

Don't you remember doing this as a kid. So satisfying!

The DeYoung offers a tactile experience for more than the tongue.

Kisses from my love bug.

Ok, this picture just begins to capture the face-off between Alice and Justy. They were definitely rivals for the same toys, and Alice got much needed practice in sharing. Justy also taught her about wearing costumes. Day one, Alice + costumes = no dice. Day 2, we could hang it off her head by the hood. End of Day 2, we could put her arms in, but not her legs, by the end of Day 3, Alice and Justy were trading costumes!

We met friends at the park, and Donovan made sure Alice didn't stray too far.

The 5 minutes that the adukts actually got to sit and chat . . . right before James got a huge splinter.

The giraffe.

This must have been Day 2, as we weren't allowed to zip.

James!

Giraffe and Bear: Face Off. We were not fast enough with the camera; had we been, we would have captured this scene from the wildlife. Two animals, staring each down over a chair. The bear wins!

Jupey was so amazingly careful when pushing Alice on the tire wing (per Alice's request).

The huggable, sweet, lovely Johnson Harrell kids. We miss you so much.

A sad last minute attempt at portraiture. Thank you for a wonderful visit!!!
